Introduction to Orthopedics

3-Part Series

For medical students interested in orthopedic surgery — the “Welcome to Ortho” panels are for you! The purpose of this series is to introduce the field of orthopedics to students in their preclinical year(s) of medical school. The series will consist of three virtual events, all of which will be an approximately one hour panel session held on Zoom.

  • Why Ortho?

    Sept 25th 8pm EST

This event will include discussion about what makes the field of orthopedics so special and why our panelists chose to pursue a career in ortho.

  • Where to Start if You're Interested in Ortho

    Oct 23 8pm EST

This event will discuss ways in which preclinical students can get involved in ortho opportunities such as shadowing, research, and mentorship. The use of social media will also be discussed as a tool to start building your presence in the ortho world early in medical school.

  • 3rd Year 101

    Nov 20 8pm EST

At this event, discussion will be based around all that 3rd year entails - choosing away rotations, navigating VSLO, deciding whether or not to take a research year, and advice for succeeding on clerkships.
